Mission Statement
The mission of CDFI Friendly Bloomington is to strengthen the communities in and around Bloomington and the Indiana Uplands, and to improve the economic conditions of lower income residents by assisting community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and other organizations in providing accessible, flexible financing for affordable housing, job growth and other community development projects.
In 2018, Bloomington became the nation’s first “CDFI Friendly” city, an innovative new approach to help draw CDFI financing to smaller markets.
IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES
We identify, evaluate, and aggregate CDFI investment opportunities throughout our region – providing local insight and delivering opportunities to external investors.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
We provide technical assistance and local coordination to help projects garner community support, navigate local government, and have the resources to succeed.
GAP FINANCING
CDFI Friendly Bloomington has raised $4 million in enhancement funding to invest alongside CDFIs to facilitate projects, mitigate risk, and bridge gaps.
